STORMY WEATHER GIVES WAY TO BEAUTIFUL WEDDING DAY AT CASO STATION IN ST. THOMAS

Updated: Aug 7, 2023

Saturday, July 29, 2023, started out with a rain fall warning from environment Canada and they weren’t wrong. At about 8am the rain came, and it poured. Fortunately for Gina and Adam, by noon the rain finally stopped, and we started to see blue skies.

When we arrived that the historical CASO Railway Station in St. Thomas for at 2:30pm to a brisk breeze and partly cloudy skits. It looked like Gina and Adam were going to have a beautiful day for their wedding.

As we were unpacking the truck to load our equipment in, we hear the unmistakable sound of bagpipes and saw a white horse drawn carriage enter the parking lot. The bride had arrived.

We quickly loaded our gear into the stating, got everything setup and did a quick sound and light check. All was working perfectly.

The standard wedding setup at the CASO Railway Station is to put the head table along the back wall in the center right in front of the dance floor and have the DJ set up opposite to the head table. We love this as we have an excellent view of the head table, and we are located directly adjacent the dance floor. It does require us to set up two satellite speakers in the opposite corners to get a more even sound for cocktail and dinner, and we gladly do this for our couples.

While we were putting the finishing touches on our setup, we noticed at the far end of the room an incredible spread of food. Pasta salads, king shrimp, sandwiches, cheeses, fruit, vegetables, etc. It was one if the best spreads, we have ever seen. Hats off to The Grazin Table.

The ceremony was over by 4:15 and guests started entering the ball room. We played our standard cocktail songs, top forty from the 50s through today.

At 6:15 we announced the Grand entrance with Gina’s parents first, followed by Adam’s partners. Then the brides, groomsmen and finally the couple of honour. Guns and roses welcome to the jungle for the bridal party and We Wanna Party- TJR ft. Savage for the bride and groom.

Dinner was next and this was a first for us. Dinner was proved by Smokestacks Food Truck. Your choice of smoked brisket on a bun or chicken taco with either french fries or creamy coleslaw as a side.

It looked like most guests went for the brisket and fries and we both agreed that it was excellent.

After dinner approaching 8:00pm we stared speeches with Gina’s parents first, then Adam’s parents followed by the maid of honour, Nicole and the two best men, Matt and Chris.

Brid and groom and family then snuck out for some family pictures and were back within ten minutes for the fist dance: Say You Won't Let Go by James Arthur. Followed by the father daughter dance: Walk with You by Edwin McCain and mother son dance: Mother by Sugarland.

We then asked did the Anniversary Dance to: Unchained Melody by the Righteous Brothers which is a favourite of ours for this type of dance. We packed the dance floor and moved directly into Dion’s Runaround Sue to get the dancing going.

At 9:30 we proceeded with the bouquet toss to Milkshake by Kelis and then the garter removal and toss to ZZ top’s Sharped Dressed Man into Warrant’s Cherry Pie and rounding it off after the garter catch, Queen We Are The Champions.

At about 10:30 the late-night snack was set out. Taco style and again it tasted excellent.

We managed to get on all of Gina and Adam’s fifteen requests played through out the evening with some great dancing in the later hours of the night.
