Saturday, August 5, 2023, a perfect sunny day for a perfect wedding at Grey Silo Golf Club. We were so honoured to help Erin and Josh celebrate their special day. Grey Silo Golf Club is a beautiful rustic setting located in Waterloo, Ontario. Lots of charm with timber beams and a stone fireplace.
There were approximately 120 guests including the wedding party which would most likely be about the maximum number for people we would recommend for this venue.

When we arrived as planned at 2:30pm. This was our first time here and Jen and I were both very impressed with the facility and the professionalism of the staff.
Special Shoutout to Rochelle who made the entire wedding easy for us. Thank you Rochelle!
Equipment load in was really easy, no stairs or elevators, always a plus, and the ball room is a short walk from the parking lot.

We set up our main system and then proceeded to set up a alternate speaker on the balcony for guests that wanted to sit outside. We used our standard Sennheiser wireless dongle and a battery pack which worked perfectly. We also placed a fourth speaker in the far corner of the ball room to add fill for dinner and better sound for speeches. This eleminates additioal cords which could be a tripping hazard and if much faster for us to setup and take down. We never charge extra for this and it's just one of the ways we go above and byond for our clients.

We completed our setup well before 4:00pm and waited for guests to arrive which started around 4:15pm. We played our standard cocktail top 40 mix of music from the 60s through to today. Everyone was enjoying the appetisers and great weather.
The wedding party arrived around 5:15pm with the bride and groom arriving a little after 5:30pm with the photographers. It was now time for the grand entrance. Song of choice was Party Rock Anthem by LMFHO. Everybody rocked it as they came in to my upbeat annoucments and pumping music. I then handed the microphone over to the Master of Ceremonies Jordon, the bride's brother.

Erin and Josh had their first dance as a married couple just before dinner. Song of choice was And Then Some by The Arkells. Right after the fist dance, they proceeded to cut their wedding cake and then it was time for dinner.

Dinner was a very tasty three course meal staring with a gourmet salad, then your choice of salmon, chicken or squash for the main entree, and a wonderful cake for dessert. Both Jennifer and I had the salmon dish and were steeling each others roasted potatoes. The cake for desert was the best we've had in a long time. Our compliments to the chef for creating a great wedding dinner!

Speeches were preformed during the dinner by Chris the best man, Jordan (First Mate) and the Master of Ceremonies, the parents of the bride and parents of the groom. Finally, both Erin and Josh thanked everyone for attending.
The staff then took a quick 15 minutes to re-arrange some tables and open a dance floor. This was preformed very smoothly and with very little inconvenience to the guests. We pivoted our DJ setup about 45 degrees to be lineup directly the dance floor and it was time for the party to begin.

The father - daughter dance was next. Since the song was Sing Sing Sing by Benny Goodman and came in at almost six minutes long. They decided that Erin and her father would start, then after a minute we would bring out Josh and his mother. Then we would invite the all the guests to join them on the dance floor.
Sing Sing Sing is a very up-tempo song and not one that I would normally recommend for a father daughter dance. To be honest, I really wasn't sure if the guest were going to get into the song and dance when I asked them to join in. Well, this is why every wedding is different. Erin and her dad tor up the dance floor and Josh and his mom did a great job to keep up. We were really blown away when just about everyone else started dancing at the two-minute mark of the song and kept dancing right to the end. My hat goes off to Erin and Josh for knowing this would work.

We played music from just about every decade and just about every genre, and everyone was having a great time showing off their moves. We played every song on Erin and Josh's play list and they all went over really well.
A notable standout was Saturday Night by Whigfield. We had about 40 plus people on the dance floor doing a line dance. I wish I had snapped a photo.
At about 12:05 am we played our last song as it looked like most of the guests were staring to run out of steam. Shout part1 and part2 by the Isley Brothers was a hit as we had just about everyone left in the room on the dance floor.
This was one of the bets weddings we have DJ'd and are so thankful to Erin and Josh for putting their faith in our abilities. We wish them all the best in the future.
Hight complements to the Grey Silo Golf Club, a geat venue with a great staff. We would love to come back anytime. Highly recommended!
